We are currently looking to hire a Full Time Events Coordinator who will be responsible for planning, implementing, and execute all social and cultural events for the Mikisew Cree First Nation and may assist with other departmental events as required.  This position requires a high level of attention to detail, project management, and effective communication skills.

Who You Are

We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic Events Coordinator who is a motivated individual who is a self-starter and works well in a team environment.  The successful candidate possess a high level of attention to detail, project management, and effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and executes all social and cultural events for the community such as Treaty Days, fun social media events on Facebook to engage MCFN members, etc.
  • Search and apply for funding from all sources: industry, government, etc. to carry out the programs and costs for the events.
  • Ensure effective and cost-efficient management of events, including the planning and tracking of budgets.
  • Conduct pre- and post-event planning meetings with key stakeholders to identify event objectives, messaging, and communications/marketing strategy. Prepares and presents post-event reports.
  • Supports the development of events best practices and procedures.
  • Liaise with internal departments; finance, communications, guest speakers, graphic designers etc., to ensure all events are within budget and scope.
  • Prepare an event plan and budget for each event, including an event poster and agenda.
  • Manage orders, merchandise and apparel for all events and event related activities.
  • Conduct site inspections and manage events onsite and/or virtually, as needed.
  • Evaluate and improve processes with a focus on efficiency, cultural and appropriate content/activities.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Woodland Cree culture and traditions is desirable.
  • Completion of a relevant University degree or a combination of education; grade 12 and relevant work experience (First Nation is preferred) may be considered; 3-5 years of experience of planning and coordinating events.
  • Exceptional delivery of multiple events, on-time, and on-budget.
  • Strong Microsoft computer skills (MSWord, Excel, and Outlook) and familiar with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tik Tok).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and strong presentation skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills and strong attention to details.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, creative.

Other Requirements

  • Possess a valid Class 5 AB driver’s license and own or access to a vehicle.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to Fort Chipewyan as required.
  • Willingness and ability to work after hours and/or weekends when required.
  • Willingness to submit to an oath of confidentiality.

Mikisew Cree First Nation is seeking a full time Health Care Aide to start immediately. This position will be responsible for playing a crucial role in the personalized care for our Seniors Care residents. You will be responsible for assisting with activities of daily living, ensuring the well-being and comfort of the residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Administer medications as per the care plan and report any adverse reactions.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature.
  • Assist in transferring and positioning residents to promote mobility and prevent bedsores.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to residents.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement care plans.
  • Maintain a clean and organized living environment for residents.
  • Observe and report any changes in the residents’ physical or emotional condition.
  • Promote positive and effective work atmosphere to encourage highest standards possible.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in a health care support role specifically with Seniors would be an asset.
  • Valid Standard First Aid with CPR.
  • Valid certification as a Health Care Aide or Personal Support Worker.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.

Job Opportunity: Family Support Worker

We are looking for a front-line Prevention Worker to work full-time Monday to Friday, 8 am – 430pm. The successful candidate will work with the family support team to work directly with Indigenous families to promote wellness, prevent crises, and strengthen family bonds.

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of Indigenous cultures and traditions, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with community members and external partners.

This position is based in Fort Chipewyan, AB.

Responsibilities

  • Family Support: Provide direct support to Indigenous families, addressing their unique needs and challenges through culturally sensitive and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Crisis Prevention: Develop and implement prevention strategies to mitigate potential crises within families, working proactively to address underlying issues.
  • Cultural Responsiveness: Infuse cultural practices and traditions into prevention programs, respecting and incorporating the diverse cultural backgrounds of the families served.

We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team and provide high-quality healthcare services to our MCFN clients. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a culturally rich environment while serving the healthcare needs of our community.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse will work collaboratively with Director of Health and other stakeholders to ensure proper care is provided to clients in addition to the following responsibilities:

  • Clinical Assessments: Conduct comprehensive health assessments, including physical examinations, medical history reviews, and ongoing monitoring of clients’ health conditions.
  • Consultation and Referrals: Collaborate with healthcare professionals, community members, and MCFN leadership to provide consultations and referrals for specialized care, ensuring that our clients receive appropriate and timely healthcare services.
  • Health Education: Deliver health education programs and resources to individuals, families, and the community, promoting health promotion, disease prevention, and self-care management.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the provision of healthcare services, including arranging appointments, coordinating transportation, and advocating for clients’ needs within the healthcare system.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of client assessments, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with professional and organizational standard
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and respect for traditions, customs, and practices while delivering healthcare services.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, social workers, mental health professionals, and other healthcare providers, to ensure comprehensive and holistic care for our clients.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of nursing experience, preferably in primary care or community health settings.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous health practices, cultural competency, and sensitivity to the needs of Indigenous communities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport and build trust with clients and community members.
  • Proficiency in utilizing electronic health record systems for documentation and information management.

  • Flexibility to work in both the MCFN community and Fort McMurray, adapting to a hybrid working model as required.

 Responsibilities:

  • To be on standby or on-call waiting list, to be called at any time, as needed for different shift workdays or nights, including weekends.
  • Accurate, concise, and timely documentation and case notes.
  • Provide Elder tours to new clients as required.
  • To work with clients, other staff and other resource people in the community.
  • To respond to telephone inquiries.
  • To maintain all client file records and telephone documentation in a confidential manner.
  • To document all required information relating to shift in the appropriate logbooks.
  • To ensure that safety and security measures for the shelter are adhered to, performing routine security checks as per policy.
  • To assist clients with meal preparation if needed.
  • To perform regular household chores, including laundry as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepares the necessary food items in accordance with standards in a timely and efficient fashion to ensure that there is no interruption to guest service
  • Prepares food orders and places food orders.
  • Receives and inspects deliveries of food and supplies, checking stock with invoices and advising the Director of any errors or irregularities.
  • Records all recipes utilized in the facility
  • Adheres to standardized recipes and specifications in order to maintain consistency and ensure all standards are met
  • Responsible that the kitchen and dining room are kept at a high standard of cleanliness
  • Ensures that the kitchen/freezers/coolers are kept in an organized manner
  • Ensure that station opening and closing procedures are carried out to standard

Qualifications

  • 2 years of kitchen or catering experience in Food Service Industry
  • Valid Standard First Aid with CPR and Advanced Food Safe certificates
  • Interprovincial Red Seal Certification or higher is an asset, but not required

 You are a seasoned Operational Senior leader who ideally has experience working with Indigenous organizations. The successful candidate in this position will be able to execute operational tactics to achieve Mikisew Cree First Nation’s strategic goals and objectives. You are a big picture thinker with the ability to come up with long term strategy for the Nation while also being able to focus on overseeing the day-to-day administrative and operational functions ensuring peak efficiency and productivity.

Responsibilities:

 Provide leadership to the operational functions of MCFN, aligning efforts with the Nation’s long-term goals and values.

  • Collaborate closely with the executive team to set and achieve operational goals and to provide direction to the rest of the organization.
  • Supports the execution of the strategic operational plan, ensuring the appropriate alignment of the organizational structure, management processes and allocation of operational and human resources.
  • Oversee and optimize day-to-day operations across various departments, including but not limited to Administration and Community Services.

Qualifications

This is a full-time, permanent position and requires a considerable amount of travel to Fort Chipewyan, AB or for the incumbent to be based there.

  • Communication: Provide monthly progress reports to the Director, keeping them informed about project developments, challenges, and achievements. Act as the primary point of contact for resolving technical issues during projects.
  • Contracting: Bid and tender contracts for Technical Services in construction-related areas, including project estimation, scheduling, and vendor selection.
  • Collaboration and Budgeting: Collaborate with the Director in establishing annual goals and departmental direction. Assist the Director and the Controller in developing the department’s annual budget, ensuring alignment with goals.
  • Adaptability: Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is often the minimum requirement. IE: Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in the Construction Management role, 7 to 10 years preferred.
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM) preferred.
  • Intermediate level proficiency in MS Office products.
  • Relevant safety certifications preferred.

  • Medication Assistance with dispensing of prescribed medications and documentation of all medications reordering as needed.
  • Meal Planning/ collaboration with Dietician and Cook to their specific needs and to ensure all residents receive healthy food choices as per the Canada Food Guide.
  • Reporting observe and reporting any behavioral changes or conditions with the residents or any incidents involving residents within the Care Plan to the Professional staff.
  • Assess and provide treatments and make referrals.
  • Prevent/treat injury/illness.
  • Complete initial and ongoing assessments of residents and patients.
  • Documents patient care observations and activities according to professional standards and procedures.
