The Government and Industry Relations (GIR) is a department of the Mikisew Cree First Nation (MCFN), located in Fort McMurray, Alberta. The GIR is directed by the MCFN Leadership and acts as a liaison between resource developers, operators, government agencies and the community.
Regulatory and Environment Manager Position Overview:
The Regulatory and Environment Manager at the Mikisew Cree First Nation is responsible for overseeing the environmental performance of resource development that may impact the MCFN traditional territory. The position includes developing, implementing and monitoring environmental strategies, policies and programs to promote environmental stewardship. The Regulatory and Environment Manager will also assess Industry activities to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with environmental policies and legislation. Additionally, they will manage environmental initiatives, Industry applications, technical reviews, statements of concern and represent MCFN on related regulatory matters.

The Career Services Manager for MCFN office is a highly skilled and motivated professional. The position is established to coordinate and facilitate community members access to skills, training, educational supports, job placements, employment opportunities job retention and career advancement.
The Career Services Manager provides leadership to the program by establishing and maintaining strong partnerships with Mikisew members and assists in the coordination of Skills Employment Training and relationships with other career-based responsibilities of MCFN.

The Family Support Prevention Director will be responsible for the overall management of the Prevention Program that provides direction and leadership to the prevention team at Mikisew Cree Nation. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall financial management of the development of programs and will be reporting to the CEO and Leadership. The Family Support Prevention Director will provide expert specialized advice, consultation, and support to the delivery system, and other Mikisew partners.
The successful candidate will work closely with partnership agencies in promoting practices in the field that enhance service quality and good outcomes for children ensuring that the new relevant legislation is implemented and that the new service delivery model honors a family centered approach.

Mikisew Cree First Nation is seeking an Emergency Management Program Coordinator to enhance the Nations coordination of its emergency management capacity and response to activities that include planning, preparing and response to emergency events.
Reporting to the Health Director the successful candidate will work closely with other departments, community organizations, First Nations, governments, and municipalities. Exceptional public speaking skills are required to communicate with members and stakeholders clearly, and excellent critical thinking skills to make decisions quickly in stressful situations.
This is a one-year contract position-based Fort McMurray or Fort Chipewyan with the possibility to extend fill time based on securing a longer-term commitment from the government. The anticipated start date is May 23rd, 2023.

Mikisew Cree is seeking a prevention worker. The prevention worker is responsible for working directly with Mikisew Cree children, youth & families to support them in achieving stability and behavioral changes where safety issues are present. This role provides prevention and early intervention support to Mikisew children who are struggling with challenges that if left unaddressed, may result in children & youth being at risk for more intrusive child intervention response. This role mentors and monitors and connects families to appropriate resources to assist in keeping children and youth safe and improve their social and emotional outcomes. The prevention worker also engages with families towards the goal of strengthening them so that they remain a family unit and meet their children’s needs for safety, healing, and wellbeing.

Indigenous Agreements Analyst
The Indigenous Agreements Analyst position for the Mikisew Cree First Nation Government & Industry Relations (GIR) office will establish controls and operating policies that identify, monitor, and mitigate risk factors that could impact the success of executing agreements and subsequent projects. The Indigenous Agreements Analyst will be required to maintain a reporting structure to share project information with stakeholders that track and analyze financial data against project scopes and budgets. The successful candidate will provide cost control, change management, forecasting and reporting with focus on timelines and accuracy.
