Who We Are

The Mikisew Cree First Nation (Mikisew) has lived on the ancestral lands of the Athabasca Delta and Wood Buffalo National Park in northeastern Alberta since time immemorial. The lives of our members are linked to the land and to a close understanding of traditions, history and a natural way of life. Many of our members live in the hamlet of Fort Chipewyan, and our traditional lands range over a large portion of Athabasca oil sands deposits. Who You Are

As the Building Supplies Coordinator, you possess a keen eye for organization and attention to detail. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with project managers, negotiating with suppliers, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring timely deliveries to project sites. If you have retail experience, preferably in the building materials or construction field, coupled with computer proficiency and exceptional customer service skills, we encourage you to apply.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Collaborate with project managers to determine building supply requirements.
  • Source, negotiate, and procure building materials, emphasizing cost-effectiveness and quality.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, orders, and deliveries.
  • Coordinate timely material deliveries, ensuring adherence to specifications and timelines.
  • Monitor inventory levels and reorder supplies to prevent shortages and project delays.
  • Conduct regular inspections of received materials for quality and compliance.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with suppliers, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Assist in developing and implementing procurement strategies aligned with budgetary constraints and sustainability goals.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, pricing, and advancements in building supplies.
  • Contribute to a safe working environment by adhering to health and safety protocols.

What We Are Looking For

  • Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and best practices in the construction and building supplies field.
  • Proficiency in administrative tasks, including record-keeping, inventory management, and supply coordination.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail in handling administrative processes.
  • Ability to work independently on administrative tasks and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, with a focus on providing excellent service to both internal and external stakeholders.

Other Requirements

  • Possess a valid Class 5 AB driver’s license and own or access to a vehicle.
  • Willingness and ability to work after hours and/or weekends when required.
  • Willingness to submit to an oath of confidentiality.
  • Willing to work flexible schedule.
  • Ability to speak and/or understand the Cree language (or another applicable First Nation language) would be beneficial.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is an asset

Benefits and Compensation Highlights

  • The wage for this role is $25 hourly.
  • Full-time position with typical office hours consisting of 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday however flexibility will be required for occasional work on evenings and weekends (with encouragement and support for a work-life balance)
