Evacuation Alert – Gregoire Lake Estates, FMFN # 468, Anzac, Rickards Landing Industrial Park

An Evacuation Alert has been issued for Gregoire Lake Estates, Fort McMurray First Nation #468, Anzac, and Rickards Landing Industrial Park due to risk of wildfire (MWF-017.)

The following communities are on evacuation alert:

  • Fort McMurray
  • Saprae Creek
  • Anzac
  • Fort McMurray First Nation #468
  • Gregoire Lake Estates
  • Rickards Landing Industrial Park

At this time, an Evacuation Order has not been issued. This is an alert for residents in the affected areas to be ready to leave on short notice.

It is anticipated that Highway 63 will be impacted later today which would result in a temporary closure. This closure would be south of the highway 63 and 881 junction. At this time, it is not believed that Highway 881 will be immediately impacted. Access to Fort McMurray will not be impeded as highway 881 is not expected to be impacted or closed at this time.  

Alberta Wildfire is the lead authority on MWF-017, and they will provide updates as the situation changes. There is currently Alberta Wildfire firefighting crews on the ground, heavy equipment, air tankers and helicopters working on this fire.

Residents are advised to:

  • Follow local media sources
  • Arrange with neighbours to advise one another of an emergency notification

  • Make an emergency plan for your household
