Rental Collections Clerk  – Job Opportunity 

DEPARTMENT: MCFNProperty Management                 REPORTING TO:  Housing Manager

DURATION:        Full-Time, Permanent Employee                LOCATION:         Fort Chipewyan, AB

Mikisew Cree First Nation is seeking a full time Rental Collections Clerk for the Property Management team in the Mikisew Property Management department in Fort Chipewyan, AB. As a Rental Collections Clerk, you will play a crucial role in managing and monitoring rental payments, ensuring timely collections, and maintaining positive tenant relationships. You will work closely with tenants, property management to enforce lease terms, handle delinquencies, and support eviction processes when necessary.

Responsibilities:

  • Rent Monitoring and Collection: Monitor rent payments and collections from tenants on a regular basis.
  • Delinquency Management: Identify and red flag outstanding rental payments. Initiate communication and follow-up with tenants to resolve overdue accounts promptly.
  • Communication: Prepare and send warning and action letters to tenants in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Tenant Relations: Act as a liaison between property management and tenants regarding rental issues and payment arrangements.
  • Eviction Support: Assist in the management of eviction processes, including compiling necessary documentation and maintaining eviction files.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate records of rental payments, delinquencies, and communications with tenants.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with leasing agreements, fair housing laws, and company policies throughout all interactions.

Essential Requirements: 

  • Must have a valid Class 5 Drivers License.
  • Must be able to complete written reports, inventory lists, etc.
  • Experience working with Microsoft office
  • Experience with Xyntax is an asset
  • Able to work independently as well as be a team player.
  • Always maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Perform other related duties by supervisor.
