MTS Property Management Handyman – Job Opportunity 

 

DEPARTMENT: MCFNProperty Management                 REPORTING TO:  Housing Manager

DURATION:        Full-Time, Permanent Employee                LOCATION:         Fort Chipewyan, AB

 

Mikisew Cree First Nation is seeking a full time Handyman for the Property Management team in the Mikisew Property Management department in Fort Chipewyan, AB. The Handyman will be responsible for handling repairs and maintenance tasks at our facilities or designated locations. This role requires proficiency in various trades, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and general handyman skills. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently to ensure our facilities remain in good condition.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform repairs and maintenance tasks in areas such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and HVAC systems.
  • Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems (e.g., lighting, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning).
  • Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment to identify and resolve issues promptly.
  • Assist in the setup and teardown of equipment and furniture for various events or activities.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and tools.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or management.
  • Maintenance, Construction and Renovation work
  • Light labour duties.
  • Perform seasonal yard work.
  • Any other related duties as required.

Essential Requirements: 

  • Must have a valid Class 5 Drivers License.
  • Must be able to complete written reports, inventory lists, etc.
  • Basic computer skills is preferred
  • Have experience in yard work and carpentry.
  • Able to work independently as well as be a team player.
  • Always maintain confidentiality.
  • Physically able to perform some heavy lifting.
  • Able to work extended hours as required.
  • Perform other related duties by supervisor.
